KANPUR: Two truck drivers and a cleaner were burnt alive in a pile-up involving three heavy trucks on Kanpur-Unnao National Highway in Ajgain area of Unnao district on Saturday morning.
Police said that on Saturday morning, a heavy truck and a dumper were majorly damaged in the accident that took place at around 5.30 am in front of Jagdishpur village of Ajgain Kotwali area. A gravel-laden dumper, heading towards Lucknow from Kanpur, was rammed from behind by a DCM truck carrying wood. Soon, another heavy truck coming from behind crashed into the DCM.
Fire broke out due to a short-circuit following the collision of three trucks simultaneously. It was so severe that the driver of the wood-laden DCM truck and driver and his assistant of a dumper vehicle died of serious burns.
Police teams from Dahi Chowki, Ajgain and Sohramau police stations along with fire tenders reached the spot and tried to douse the fire.
Police said the deceased have been identified as Balveer Kushwaha (40), Satish Kumar Kushwaha (35) and Pappu Singh (40).
