KANPUR: Four persons were killed and left 14 others were injured in separate road accidents apparaently caused due to low visibility following foggy weather conditions in the region on Monday.
Three persons died and eight were injured after a truck rammed a private tourist bus on way from Haridwar to Lucknow on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Ervakatra police station area of Auraiya district on Monday morning.
The bus driver and two passengers seated in the front portion of the bus died in the accident.
Police said that the accident occurred after speeding truck took a sharp turn to avoid collision with another vehicle and lost control.
The truck hit the divider and crashed into a bus coming from the opposite direction on the expressway.
On being informed, Ervakatra police and expressway security personnel reached the spot and rushed the injured to Saifai Hospital, said police. The decesaed bus driver has been identified as Pappu Yadav, a resident of Mathura.
In a similar incident, an 18-year-old youth was killed while another on the pillion sustained critical wounds after a pickup van hit their bike at Takha area of Etawah district. Both the youths were identified as Himanshu alias Monu (18) son Rajveer and Ravi (16) son Manoj Kumar, residents of Daulatpur village of Usrahar police station area of the district. They were going to ITI Etawah at around 7am when the accident occurred. Himanshu succumbed to wounds while Ravi has been admitted to hospital with serious injuries.
In another incident, five students got injured after a truck hit the SUV carrying them to college, near Chhibramau area of Kannauj district. They were going for an examination at the time of the accident. “All the injured students have been admitted to Medical College in Tirwa,” police said.
