AYODHYA: Amid a rough estimate that around 50 lakh people could visit Ayodhya on the New Year day, heavy security and crowd management arrangements have been put in place by Ayodhya police.
In fact, preparations have been made for a week to manage such a large crowd in the temple town.
On the New Year day in 2022, 30 lakh people visited Ayodhya.
Talking to TOI, Ayodhya SSP Muniraj G said, “Relying on reports from different government departments, we are prepared to manage about 50 lakh people in Ayodhya on the first day of the New Year. We have arranged about a dozen cranes at different points on all roads leading to Ayodhya to deal with any road accidents. All police response vehicles equipped with tools to deal with any eventuality on roads have been deployed. Along with identifying various parking lots and route diversions, we have deployed additional force with extra officers to professionally manage the day round the clock.”
According to a report prepared by the tourism department, around 2.5 crore tourists visited Ayodhya in 2022, 25,000 of them were foreigners. Compared to this, over 70 lakh had visited the temple town in 2021.
