LUCKNOW: An army officer, posted as major in Army Medical Corps, has accused a woman and her aides of blackmailing him into taking the help of a medical seat-fixing gang to crack National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for post-graduation in December 2020.
The gang also allegedly blackmailed the officer and used social media to float fake and frivolous information about him. Later, they also sent a fake complaint against him to the Army Headquarters forcing him to lodge a police complaint.
In his complaint, the officer, who was then posted in Lucknow and was preparing for NEET PG for session 2020-21, said that he met Sakshi Jain through social media.
Sakshi claimed to be a bio statistician and offered the victim help in cracking the NEET PG Examination.
The army officer claimed that he refused to use unfair means to clear the exam.
However, the woman did not give up, and kept impressing the victim by making predictions about NEET exams, all of which came to be true in later stages.
Subsequently, the complainant said, he started believing in her but refused to take any kind of help from her.
After the exam got over, the woman again approached him. This time, she demanded Rs 2.50 lakh from him in lieu of a good NEET score, the results of which were about to be released.
When the officer refused to budge, her aide Abhishek Reddy sent him a blackmailing mail, demanding money or they would dent his image. When this also did not work, another aide of the woman, Sonali allegedly started spreading fake and frivolous information on various social media groups.
Later, multiple emails from multiple IDs started threatening to ruin the personal life as well as the career of the complainant. A complaint was also sent to Army Headquarters. He was also labelled as a traitor and accused of Rs 86 lakh fraud. Fed up with the mental harassment, the victim sent a complaint to the then police commissioner in March 2022, but no action was taken. He later petitioned the court, which ordered an FIR.
SHO, Cantonment, Raj Kumar, said, “We are conducting a probe with the help of a cyber cell.”
