PRAYAGRAJ: A joint team of police, revenue department and administration on Friday attached a property belonging to mafioso-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad’s brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf under Gangster Act.
This property located at Mauja Devghat area under the limits of Sadar tehsil of Prayagraj district is valued at around Rs 7 crore and is spread over around 14.39 biswa (Gatta no 497).
With this, Prayagraj police on Friday claimed to have attached\seized properties worth more than Rs 1,000 crore belonging to Atiq, his family members and eight key associates in Prayagraj and other districts of the state.
Senior superintendent of police (Prayagraj) Shailesh Kumar Pandey told TOI: “The city police after checking and verifying records and subsequent investigations, came to know about a property of Atiq Ahmad that he had purchased in the name of his younger brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf. This asset was also accumulated through illegal means in the name of Khalid Azim alias Ashraf.” After DM’s order, police team first conducted ‘Munadi’ (public announcement) at the spot and later attached the property.
The cops also installed a board pertaining to attachment of the property at the site, SSP added.
