LUCKNOW: The excise department has issued a license and formal go ahead to a Bareilly-based entrepreneur for setting up state’s second winery in the western UP district.
The first winery is set to come up in Muzaffarnagar.
Senior officials of the department said the wine production is going to start in the state for the first time in 2023.
“We are confident that both the units will get operational within six months. We are also going to organise a handholding session to attract more entrepreneurs into this business,” said a senior officer of the department.
Bareilly businessman Anil Sawhney said: “We are going to import some machines and tools from France to offer best quality product. The unit will be set up at our farm and we are going to offer wine tourism experience to the visitors.”
