BAREILLY: BJP candidate Akash Saxena and Samajwadi Party’s (SP) Asim Raja filed their nomination papers on Thursday for the upcoming bypolls in Rampur Sadar assembly constituency. The seat fell vacant after veteran SP leader Azam Khan’s membership of the House was “annulled” following his conviction for three years in a hate speech case. Azam’s name has been, meanwhile, removed from the electoral roll in Rampur, officials said on Thursday. This means he will not be able to vote in the December 5 bypoll.
The decision to remove his name was taken by the Rampur electoral registration officer on a complaint by BJP’s Saxena.
