LUCKNOW: The BJP will refurbish its organisational network and hold regional and district level meetings between December 12 (Monday) and December 18 as part of a crucial exercise ahead of the upcoming urban local bodies (ULB) elections.
The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting presided over by UP BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary at the party headquarters in Lucknow on Sunday.
State general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh and party’s co-in charge Satya Kumar were also present at the meeting, further stressed on strengthening divisional units, booths and ‘panna’ committees in view of the parliamentary elections due in 2024. Singh categorically alluded to an organisational meeting called the party in Delhi a few days ago.
The UP BJP president said that the candidates for the various ULB seats would be selected through a collective decision. For this the party would be setting up a `screening committee’ which would examine the names and `winnability’ prospects of the candidates. He said that the party will seek to garner support of all sections of societies and communities.
Chaudhary said that the party would seek to bolster its public outreach by highlighting the works done under the BJP government at the Centre and the state. He hoped that the party would register an emphatic win in the upcoming ULB elections. The UP BJP chief said that the party would fix the loop holes and fill the vacant organisational positions at the district and divisional level.
The UP BJP president categorically emphasised that the ULB polls were important in view of 2024 Lok Sabha elections. For this, he said, BJP leaders from state to the district level will have to work in a coordinated manner to ensure the party’s victory in the upcoming ULB polls. The saffron outfit moving into an overdrive assumes significance in the wake of the State Election Commission (SEC) announcing the notification for ULB polls anytime soon.
Chaudhary said that the party needs to strengthen its organisational structure with focus on mayoral, corporator and chairman post for Nagar Palika Parishad and Nagar Panchayat. He also stressed on the constitution of district and ward level committees in the coming days. “Every party worker will have to be given a responsibility,” he asserted, asking party leaders to gear up for the ground level campaign to reach every household.
