“One of its kind, the high-end city will have 600 tents. While the formal date for inauguration is yet to be decided, around 250 tents will be available from January 15, the bookings for which have already begun,” said Abhishek Goyal, vice chairman, Varanasi Development Authority.
Apart from luxurious stay, the tent city offers tourists an opportunity to take part in morning Ganga Aarti, and also perform it.
Available in four categories, the tents have been classified as Ganga Darshan Villas, Kashi Suits, premium and deluxe tents. They will be available in packages ranging from Rs 7,500 to Rs 20,000.
“Besides the reception area, we will have gaming zones, dining area, restaurants, conference sites, spa and yoga centres, library, art galleries, water sports, cultural and other sports activities. The high-end Ganga Darshan Villas will not only be river facing but it will also have a private beach, plunge pool, hall and many additional facilities,” said Goyal.
The tent city, which has come up in Ganga upstream near Ramnagar, will be accessible from Ravidas Ghat and Namo Ghat by boats.
People staying here will also be offered facilities to visit Kashi Vishwanath Dham and other sites in Varanasi.
The idea to develop the tent city was conceived by the local administration in view of shortage of accommodation, especially in higher end category due to increased demands of rooms after the opening of Kashi Vishwanath Dham.
The bookings can be made at the official website of the tent city, apart from other tour and travel sites.
