LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the law and order situation in the state on Friday and directed officers to spend the night in their area of posting. Senior officials should monitor the situation, he said. He also directed officials to check manufacture, sale and distribution of illicit liquor.
Divisional commissioners, DMs, SSPs, DIOS and BSA, who have a direct contact with public, were directed to meet people in their offices and address their complaints on merit. “Camp offices should be set up only after office hours or on holidays,” he said. The offices and residences of all DCPs in a commissionerate should be built in their areas of charge only.
He added that over the past five and a half years, there has been a huge decline in crime against women and children. “In such cases, the administration will have to exercise extra sensitivity and prosecution should be made more effective. Besides, to prevent cases of molestation, police should carry out foot patrolling every day,” he said.
Yogi also directed officials to crack down on the manufacture, sale and distribution of illicit liquor and said those policemen who are addicted to drugs should not be given field postings.
“They should be identified, and their services terminated,” the CM said.
Another issue raised by the CM was use of loudspeakers at religious sites.
“A few months back, we had completed an unprecedented process of removing loudspeakers from religious places. Giving priority to larger public interest, people removed loudspeakers on their own. However, during recent visits to several districts, I saw that the loudspeakers have been installed again. This is not acceptable and should be addressed,” he said.
On traffic management, the CM said challans and penalties were not a permanent solution and there was a need to create awareness among people to follow traffic rules. For this, it was imperative to target young children and sensitise them towards traffic rules at an early age, Yogi said. Besides, he said illegal taxi, bus and rickshaw stands should not be allowed to operate in any district.
