PRAYAGRAJ: On the invitation of chief minister Yogi Adityanath to invest in Uttar Pradesh, an e-commerce giant has approached the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA), seeking a 20-acre plot of land to set up a warehouse with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore in the Sangam city.
Acting promptly on the request, the UPSIDA has got two plots of seven acres of land surveyed and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the company is likely to be signed soon.
Cabinet minister for industrial development, export promotion, NRI and investment promotion in the Yogi government, Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, said on Tuesday that there is a vast potential for development in Prayagraj. “As the CM has said, by 2025 the district will have an altogether different look. For this purpose, the state government has invited several big companies,” he added.
In October, a demand of 20 acres of land was made by the e-commerce giant. On receiving the proposal, the UPSIDA had agreed to provide land for construction of a warehouse at the Saraswati Hi-Tech City in Naini. On November 10, the company got the land surveyed by a third party.
The UPSIDA officials said that the company was willing to invest Rs 1,000 crore in the Naini industrial area.
“The company had sought 20 acres of land and we have shown its officials two plots (number Q-2 and Q-3) in the Saraswati High-Tech City of Naini, each measuring seven acres and the rest of the requirement of land would be fulfilled soon as we are in the process of procuring more land at the High-Tech City,” said UPSIDA regional manager Pradeep Satyarthi.
“I am in touch with the company and soon we will be entering into an MoU with it,” he added.
Recently, the state government signed an MoU with Varun Beverages — the second largest bottling company of PepsiCo beverage in the world outside the US — which would set up a plant in Saraswati Hi-Tech City in Naini. The company will invest Rs 1,000 crore in the project and directly provide employment to around 3,000 people.
Saraswati Hi-Tech City is being developed as an Industrial Model Township at Naini in Prayagraj with separate industrial, residential and commercial sectors by UPSIDA.
