VARANASI: Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, on Monday reviewed the department-wise progress of the ongoing development and construction projects in the city and directed the concerned officers to ensure timely completion of the work maintining the quality on a war footing. The officers of different departments apprised him about the progress of projects.
About the ropeway project, the officials of the executing agency said that five stations will be constructed between Varanasi Cantt to Godowlia, which will have 30 towers. An expenditure of Rs 553 crore is estimated on the project. The Varanasi Development Authority official informed the chief secretary that work is in progress on the budget for utility shifting. The chief secretary said that it is a time-bound project, so attention should be paid to complete the work expeditiously.
The VDA vice president Abhishek Goyal apprised the chief secretary of the progress of Buddha Circuit, which is important from the point of view of tourism. He said that the overall development of Sarnath area will be ensured under this project. The work of drainage, sewerage and cabling are in progress, and all the work will be completed by July 2023. Praising this project, the chief secretary directed the officials to complete it on time and review it every week. The VDA VC also made a presentation about the new bus stands to be built outside the city.
The officials also discussed the proposed bridges for smooth traffic in the city and also the proposed four-lane elevated road mainly included from Ring Road to Sarnath Railway Station via Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalaya, two-lane elevated road from Chandpur Square to Ring Road via Lohta Bazar, construction of ROB at Bhullanpur intersection on Cantt-Lahartara-Mohansarai road, construction of two-lane elevated road from Sunderpur to Ravidas Park on Assi river, construction of overhead bridge from Lahartara intersection to Naria crossing.
The meeting was attended by the divisional commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma, district magistrate S Rajalingam, municipal commissioner Pranay Singh, VDA vice president Abhishek Goyal and others.
