LUCKNOW: Anil Kumar Lahoti, who has served as the divisional railway manager (DRM) at the Lucknow division of Northern Railway, has been appointed as the new chairman and CEO of the Railway Board. He will take charge on January 1, 2023, replacing VK Tripathi.
An IRSE officer of the 1984 batch, Lahoti was posted as Lucknow DRM between 2015 and 2017. His elder brother Justice RC Lahoti was the 35th chief justice of India.
This is the first appointment of a Railway Board chairman after the Central government notified an integrated railway service under IRMS.
Lahoti handled key posts in different railway zones
A native of Guna in MP, he did his masters from IIT, Roorkee, and at present is member (infrastructure), Railway Board.
After serving initially in Central Railway, he worked in different Railway zones handling important functional posts like principal chief engineer of North Central Railway, chief administrative officer (CAO) of Northern Railway and subsequently became the general manager of Central Railway.
