LUCKNOW: A pack of stray dogs attacked and injured a 32-year-old man at Srishti apartment in Jankipuram Extension on Thursday. This was the fifth dog attack case in just two months at the apartment.
The victim, Nirmal Kumar, a plumber from Barabanki, was rescued by residents and taken to a hospital. He was discharged after being administered anti-rabies vaccine along with first aid.
“The incident took place around 6 pm when I was walking in the apartment’s compound. All of a sudden, a pack of more than a dozen dogs started barking at me,” said Nirmal. “I tried to run, but one of the dogs bit me on my right leg,” he said. “I cried for help and the residents came, otherwise it could have been fatal,” he added.
“Residents are living in constant fear of dog bite cases. Despite several complaints to LMC and LDA, no suitable action has been taken so far,” said Vivek Sharma, another resident.
Chief veterinary officer, LMC, Abhinav Verma said, “I will direct my team to visit the apartment and capture the dogs for examination.”
