LUCKNOW: As the minimum temperature dipped further to 5.9 degrees Celsius, about two units below normal, Friday became the coldest day of this winter so far.
The maximum temperature was 14.8 degrees Celsius, 6.5 units below normal. Despite sunshine during the afternoon, cold day conditions continued due to icy winds coming from the snow fed mountains.
Kanpur and Ayodhya were the coldest in the state on Friday with each recording minimum temperature 3.2 degrees Celsius. No significant change in weather conditions is expected in the city on Saturday. Morning will be foggy followed by a sunny afternoon. A western disturbance (WD) will hit the Himalayas on Saturday. It will cause snow and rain in the hills but will also cut off flow of icy winds towards the plains during this period.
