LUCKNOW: A delegation of ministers and bureaucrats from Uttar Pradesh met potential investors in Frankfurt ahead of the Global Investors’ Summit-2023 where they spoke to Indian business leaders about UP’s industrial growth and investment potential.
Led by industries minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ and PWD minister Jitin Prasada, the delegation comprising additional chief secretary Navneet Sehgal, excise commissioner Senthil C Pandian and MSME secretary Pranjal Yadav invited the Indian community in Germany to expand their business in UP and participate in GIS-2023.
Among the Indian business community, they met Shantanu Mohan, senior vice-president at Trail Blazer Tours India, Vijay Kapoor, managing director at Crystal & Somas, Chitra Agarwal, managing partner at CSA Healthcare, Gautam Mehta, business development manager at Skyways Logistics, and Satish K Batra, president of Horizon Industries. The delegation arrived in Frankfurt on December 8 and held meetings with eminent Indians in Germany at a dinner hosted by the Consul General of Germany.
The Indian delegation spoke about the state’s sectoral policies, ease of doing business, the law and order situation in the state and the improvement in infrastructure to invite the diaspora to invest in the state. Discussions also centred around investment, skill development and exchange of skilled labour in sectors such as logistics, textile, healthcare and pharma, tourism, automotive and electric vehicles.
An official, who is part of the delegation, said that during the road show in Germany, they would be speaking to representatives of German companies like Samson, Continental AG, Innoplexus AG and Zack Technologies GmbH and invite investment intents from them. The delegation visited the headquarters of Samson AG in Frankfurt and invited its CEO Andreas Widl to invest in UP GIS-2023.
Samson AG intends to collaborate with the government in R&D and Green Hydrogen manufacturing. They also met Andreas Heuser at Bruchkobel, from the Chairman’s Office at Motherson Group, Europe.
The government has sent out delegations to 18 countries and seven cities in India, led by senior ministers and bureaucrats, to contact investors and promote UP as a preferred investment destination ahead of the GIS-2023. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has set a target of getting investment pledges of Rs 1 lakh crore during the event.
“UP GIS-2023 is an initiative by the government to achieve the ambitious target of the CM of making the state a USD 1 trillion economy in the next five years,” a government spokesperson said.
