AGRA: A 16-year-old boy was rescued by his grandfather in the nick of time from the clutches of four tantriks who were about to allegedly “sacrifice” him in Pilkhna town of Aligarh district on Tuesday night.
On seeing the boy tied to a tree, four men around him chanting mantras and a big knife along with ritual stuff lying near, the grandfather screamed for help, following which the four men fled.
The unidentified men left behind the knife and other material used in rituals, police said. An FIR was filed, following which a hunt is on to nab the four accused.
The boy’s grandfather, Dhani Ram, said, “It seemed they were about to kill the boy.” Police sources said the so-called ‘tantriks’ (occultists) took the boy, identified as Akhilesh Kumar, hostage when he came out of his house around 9 pm on Tuesday to run some errands.

The tantriks tied Akhilesh to a tree after tying his hands from behind and stuffing a cloth in his mouth. The occultists were apparently performing a ritual to sacrifice him. A large knife, some turmeric powder, red thread and vermilion were recovered from the spot,” said the boy’s uncle Kalicharan (goes by his first name only).
Talking to TOI later, Akhilesh said he was first made unconscious. Akhilesh works at a private company in Delhi and had come to his home a few days ago for a holiday.
After receiving information, local police officers, including the deputy superintendent of police Barla Abhay Kumar Pandey, reached the spot and launched a probe into the matter.
Barla DSP Abhay Kumar Pandey told TOI, ” A case under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) of the IPC has been registered after a police complaint into the matter. Probe is on in the matter, and action will be taken accordingly.”
