Police are now searching for other people involved in the fake currency racket including Sanaul, Mustafa, Jiyaul, Saleem, Mukesh alias Raunak and many unknown.
Speaking to TOI, senior superintendent of police Agra division Mohammad Mustaque said, “We believe that the racket is spread across several cities of the country. The initial three arrests are just the tip of the iceberg. During interrogation with apprehended men, we found that the gang placed orders for currency paper on https://www.alibaba.com/ from Guangzhou Bangerui Technology company limited, which claims itself to be a supplier of printing parts, inkjet printers, printing machines and printing material.”
“But the apprehended men have claimed that a Chinese firm was also supplying partially printed currency paper with Indian currency security features such as security thread, watermark. The remaining job of printing fake currency was done in several different places such as Malda and Varanasi. We will now contact customs to find out how they failed to detect the import of partially printed currency paper. We have alerted NIA, IB, RBI and ATS about the gang and means of operating the racket,” he said.
The printed fake currency was circulated via Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Delhi, Mumbai and other cities.
“During probe we found that Dharmendra (from Katihar), who is an AC coach attendant of Indian railways, used to hide the currency paper and fake currency inside the train coach to smuggle to various different cities as per instruction given by Kaleem-Ullah-Qazi and Mohammad Taqim. One of the absconding accused Mukesh alias Raunak, was acting as primary courier to receive and deliver currency paper and fake notes from Varanasi and Malda,” he added.
GRP has booked Guangzhou Bangerui Technology company limited too and is now preparing to call alibaba.com presentative for their statement in the case.
