JALGAON/LUCKNOW: Calling Sanatan Dharma the oldest religion of the world, chief minister Yogi on Monday said that targeting Sanatan Dharma was akin to targeting humanity.
Speaking at the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Gaur, Labana and Banjara community Kumbh in Maharashtra, the CM warned against forceful conversions, saying that those working to weaken the country from within by carrying out illegal conversions would not be allowed to succeed.
Yogi also spoke about the recent renaming of the Mughal Gardens in Delhi to Amrit Udyan, calling it an effort by the BJP government to end symbols of foreign oppression. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked for all traces of slavery to be removed from the country forever.
“After waiting for 500 years, a grand temple of Lord Rama is being constructed in Ayodhya. Lakhs of Hindus and seers have given the ultimate sacrifice for this temple, but the movement picked up pace under the leadership of the RSS and under the guidance of seers. When a government which prioritizes the nation took over, it paved the way for building a grand temple in Ayodhya. Next year Ram Lala will sit in his grand temple,” the CM said.
The programme in Jalgaon was organised as a protest against alleged religious conversions in the Banjara community.
The Kumbh was aimed at uniting the Banjara, Labana and Nayakada communities all over India and stopping religious conversion in the community.
A resolution demanding ‘law on conversion’ was also passed at the programme. It was organized jointly by seers and the Banjara community.
“Seers like Bhaiya Ji Joshi and Baba Ramdev, and the co-head of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh were present during the closing ceremony on Monday,” a government spokesperson said. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis joined the programme through video conferencing.
Calling Sanatan Dharma the oldest religion of the world, the CM said that it has paved the way for the welfare of all humanity. Asking people to feel proud of the fact that they were born into Sanatan Dharma, the CM said that only Sanatan Dharma can proclaim Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
He said that the Banjara Kumbh will work to protect Mother India, to take the resolution of its revered saints, sages, great men and revolutionaries to the pinnacle of accomplishment through religious awakening. Saying that one born in India was fortunate to be in a country which has shown the path of humanity to the world, the CM added that such Kumbh events should be held across the country.
“This Kumbh was a six-day event where revered saints and people from different states participated with a sense of service. Such Kumbh programmes should be held across the country as a national campaign,” he added.
