LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath would be travelling to Davos city in Switzerland in January to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF).
Yogi would be the first CM of UP to be attending the WEF meeting. A delegation of senior officials from the state industries department would accompany him.
Invest UP, the state’s investment promotion and facilitation agency, has been delegated the responsibility to make arrangements for the trip and take the help of industry body Confederation of Indian Industries as and when required.
To be held between January 16 and 20, the WEF meeting will bring leaders from government, business and civil society together to address the state of the world and discuss priorities for the year ahead.
Described as “a platform to engage in constructive, forward looking dialogues that help in finding solutions through public-private cooperation”, the event is themed around cooperation in a fragmented world.
Sources said that in addition to participation in the event, the CM may most likely push for investment in UP which in size is equal to the fifth largest country of the world. Analysts believe that Yogi’s presence in Davos would add immensely to UP’s overall brand value besides speaking positively about the change created in the past five years.
It may be noted that UP is eying to attract an investment of over Rs 10 lakh crore in the state through the global investors summit scheduled to take place between February 10 and 12.
In a build-up for the same, deputy chief ministers, senior cabinet ministers and officials from the state government would be leading roadshows in different target countries from December 9.
CM Yogi is also likely to travel for the same purpose in January 2023. Roadshows have been planned in important cities across Indian states as well.
The summit is part of UP’s larger goal of becoming a one trillion-dollar economy by the end of 2027 which is also being pursued in an organised way.
