LUCKNOW: Three days after Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) MLA Abbas Ansari, who met his wife Nikhat Bano inside the Chitrakoot prison in violation of jail rules, will be shifted to Kasganj district jail on Tuesday.
Director general of UP prisons, Anand Kumar, said that Kasganj jail has been selected on the directions of the senior officials and the state government.
A unit of police and GPS-enabled prison van along with a gazetted officer are being readied to shift the MLA.
The action was taken after Ansari and his wife were found meeting inside a room adjacent to the office of the jail superintendent.
Nikhat was found carrying two mobile phones and some cash with her. The meetings that were allegedly being held on a daily basis for the last fifteen days were not mentioned in the jail records.
Later, Chitrakoot jail superintendent Ashok Sagar and seven of his subordinates were suspended and were booked on Saturday for arranging meetings between the jailed MLA and his wife.
Ansari and his wife Nikhat were named as accused in an FIR lodged on Saturday following whith the police arrested Nikhat and her driver.
