Lucknow: Two murders were reported in two different police station areas of Lucknow on Sunday.
In the first, the body of a 40-year-old jeweller, Jitendra Verma, was recovered from thickets a few metres away from Dubagga police station. An empty bag belonging to the jeweller was found near his body. The family members have alleged murder and loot of 13 kg of silver jewellery, cash and mobile of the victim.
ADCP, West Zone, CN Sinha said that three to four contusions were found on Jitendra’s face and head and the post-mortem could not ascertain his cause of death following which viscera has been preserved. Police sources said that Jitendra had taken a huge loan from a Kanpur-based businessman and was unable to repay it.
In another case, reported from Itaunja police station, the body of a 16-year-old girl was recovered. Cops claimed that she was strangled to death. Police reached the spot on the information of locals. The victim’s father is a home guard personnel.
“Shivani (name changed) had gone to attend nature’s call in the morning. But she did not return. Three hours later, her body was found lying in the bushes of a barren land belonging to a farmer,” said police.
DCP, North Zone, SM Qasim Abidi said five teams have been formed for investigation.
