LUCKNOW: Setting standards of uprightness in public transport services, the Lucknow metro staff returned a bag full of cash to a couple, who had mistakenly left it on the seat while alighting from the train at Singar Nagar metro station.
Total Rs 1.80 lakh cash was recovered and handed over to passengers. This was the highest ever recorded in UPMRC.
The incident happened on Tuesday morning at around thirty past ten, when a couple identified as Neeraj Kumar and Manisha Sahu of Lalitpur boarded metro from Charbagh station, but forgot their bag while alighting at Singar nagar metro station.
“The bag was recovered by security staff at Chaudhary Charan Singh airport station while inspecting the train. The bag was handed over to the station controller. When the couple contacted metro officials for their lost luggage, they were informed about the recovery. Later after verification and other formalities, their bag with cash Rs 1.80 lakh was handed over,” said Lucknow metro spokesperson.
Since the commencement of Lucknow metro services from September 5, 2017, a total of Rs 19.95 lakh cash, 109 laptops, 537 mobiles have been returned safely by the lost and found cell to passengers.
While appreciating the efforts of Lucknow Metro’s lost and found cell, Sushil Kumar, MD, UPMRC said, “Lucknow Metro is safer, comfortable and secure mode of public transit than any other public transport. We will continue to strive hard to provide the best passenger service to the people of Lucknow.”
