LUCKNOW: A wall painting depicting peacetime activities of the Surya Central Command of the Indian Army, Lucknow, under the Art Salute Project, was unveiled at Surya Sainik Suvidha Parisar in Cantonment area on Sunday.
Nidhi Dimri, regional president, AWWA, Central Command, was present. Rohit Malkani, senior vice-president, decorative sales and marketing, Kansai Nerolac Paints also attended the event of which The Times of India was the media partner.
Around nine artists of Gond and Bhil tribes, trained by ‘A Hundreds Hand’ organisation translated army activities on the wall at Surya Centre after intensive research which included the state-level geographies, flora and fauna.
In the wall painting made by these artists, various activities that include humanitarian assistance, training, rescue operations and disaster relief were portrayed. Besides, their stellar contribution in the arena of sports was also depicted.
The tribal artistes used their creativity to highlight all such aspects of the forces, which remain mostly unseen in the larger context.
