KANPUR: A major fire broke out on the fourth floor of the Legend hotel in the Fazalganj area of the city, on Sunday morning.
The incident led to a panic in the hotel. However, following the timely evacuation of hotel guests and staff, there has been no report of any kind of eventuality.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, five tenders from Fazalganj, Cantt and Kidwai Nagar Fire stations reached the spot and brought the fire under control. A police team from Fazalganj police station also reached the spot and assisted Firemen in the rescue operation.
The police said that the hotel, which has 40 rooms, belongs to a local resident Gagan Deep Sethi.
It came to fore that the fire broke out in the hotel at around 10:30am, police said further and added, “At the time of the incident, eight guests were present in the hotel.
Also, some renovation work was underway on the fourth floor of the hotel.
Fire destroyed furniture and mattresses kept there.
As per preliminary findings, fire broke out due to a short circuit. Firefighters have brought the fire under control. There has been no loss of life.”
