LUCKNOW: National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested a man in Bulandshahr who supplied arms and ammunition to Lawrence Bishnoi, stated to be mastermind behind the killing of singer Sidhu Moosewala. Same weapons were used in the killing of Moosewala. The man, identified as Shahbaz Ansari, was arrested from Khurja Nagar in Bulandshahr.
During the search of Ansari’s house, the NIA recovered several incriminating documents and articles, including a Star brand 9mm pistol, papers of illegally acquired properties and digital devices. NIA said that a probe in the case was underway. So far, eight accused have been arrested in this case. NIA had arrested Bishnoi from Bhatinda jail in Punjab on November 24 in connection with the killing of Moosewala. Bishnoi was involved in several cases as he used to hatch conspiracies from the jail and get them executed with the help of his organised network.
Congress leader and singerMoosewala was shot dead on May 29 by unidentified assailants in Punjab’s Mansa district, a day after the state government had curtailed his security cover.
The case was initially registered by the Delhi police special cell on August 4 under Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 17, 18 and 18B of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The NIA re-registered the case on August 26 .
