LUCKNOW: As Uttar Pradesh government looks to meet its goal of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy in the next five years and the state will aspire to host several international and national events, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given directions to officials to build a grand convention-cum-exhibition centre in Lucknow.
During a presentation regarding the construction of convention-cum-exhibition centre, the CM said that a hi-tech, international-level convention-cum-exhibition centre is required in Lucknow to host national and international programmes.
“The project should be planned in an area of 50-55 acres and its location around the Awadh Shilpgram, off Shaheed Path, would be preferable keeping in mind the connectivity of the area to other important locations in the city, its proximity to the airport, availability of land,” he said.
“The project should be developed on PPP mode and both national and international companies, with required experience in this work, should be roped in,” the CM said.
“The Awas Vikas Parishad should prepare a feasibility study and technical report at the earliest,” he said. The CM said that besides unique cuisine, folk art and music of the state, ODOP items should be on constant display at the convention centre.
‘Architecture should reflect Indian culture’
The project should be planned as a multi-purpose facility focussing on its purpose as the venue for cultural, political, state and religious events, and concerts. The exhibition centre will be large enough to be able to host all kinds of exhibitions and fairs,” the CM said.
“The architecture of the convention centre should reflect Indian culture. It should be a model in water and power conservation and should preferably run on solar power. Good hotels should also be developed around the proposed centre for delegates, participants, visitors etc who come to Lucknow to attend programmes,” the CM said.
