LUCKNOW: The UP Police recruited 1,157 sub-inspectors on New Year’s eve, with 234 holding BTech and bachelor of engineering degrees. These recruitments have been made in the departments of accounts, ministerial and vigilance, officials said.
The recruitments were carried out online by the UP police recruitment and promotion board (UPPRPB) on December 4-5, 2021 and 66,832 candidates took the examination. DG, UPPRPB, RK Vishwakarma said that 234 techies have joined the police, 288 others hold a BSC degree, while 372 are BCom and 105 are BCA graduates.
“The average age of 70% of those recruited is 26 years only,” said Vishwakarma. These officers will assist in managing work related to offices, probes in vigilance, accounts and clerical jobs.
The DG said that UP Police has recruited 1.45 lakh cops through the UPPRPB in all its wings on different ranks since Yogi Adityanath took over as chief minister in 2017. The officer added that in the upcoming year, a recruitment drive to fill 2,430 posts in radio department will be organised, while the process to start a drive for inducting 8,540 PAC jawans, 1,582 jail warders and other ranks is being initiated soon. Simultaneously, 29,000 posts in different wings of UP Police will be filled in 2023 too, the officer added.
