PRAYAGRAJ: Around 68.62% of 16,803 voters cast their franchise at 36 polling centres for the Allahabad-Jhansi Teachers constituency polls in Prayagraj on Monday.
ADM (administration) and deputy district election officer Harshdev Pandey told TOI: “Polling for Allahabad-Jhansi Teachers constituency remained peaceful. Around 68.62% of total 16,803 voters (teachers) cast their votes between 8 am and 4 pm.”
Along with Prayagraj, polling for Allahabad-Jhansi Teachers’ Constituency was also held in nine other districts also. For the Allahabad-Jhansi seat, there were around 35,000 voters (teachers), including 16,803 in Prayagraj, and a total of 141 polling centres were set up across 10 districts.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party’s ex-district president Yogesh Chandra Yadav on Monday alleged that BJP-led state government was killing the democracy. He alleged the local administration at the behest of BJP government was seen showing more interest in favour of BJP candidate. He claimed that hoardings of BJP candidate were not removed near polling centres in Soraon block.
