BAREILLY: After getting repeated reports of cattle slaughtering in the area, Bareilly police have opened a war against cattle slaughterers in the district and have arrested three more, after three brief encounters on Monday midnight.
All three have sustained bullet injuries in their legs and are admitted in the hospital.
This is the fourth such encounter where the accused was shot in the leg by police. The accused arrested by police are identified as Mohd Tasleem, alias Kalua, who has 12 cases of cow slaughtering and Gangster Act against him, Iliyas Hussain has nine cases, and Mohammed Haider.
Additional SP (rural) Rajkumar Agarwal told TOI, “The accused had opened fire at police and they were injured during an exchange of fire on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. We have caught them red-handed and have recovered the equipment used for slaughtering the bovines.”
Bareilly police have arrested 120 people this year who have a history of bovine smuggling.
