VARANASI: A group of noted travel writers has reached Varanasi to take part in a four-day international travel writers’ conclave which began on Friday. The event has been organised by UP Tourism to promote eco-tourism in eastern UP, which has been a centre of attraction for centuries for its natural beauty and heritage.
On the first day, the writers visited the newly developed NaMo Ghat in the downstream of the Ganga on Friday afternoon. From NaMo Ghat, they sailed through a cruise to Ravidas Ghat and watched the majestic and heritage riverfront and witnessed the famous Ganga Aarti. From Ravidas ghat, the guests were taken to Brijrama Palace, where they attended a cultural programme.
According to deputy director, UP Tourism, Preeti Srivastava, many reputed bloggers, influencers, travel writers, social media influencers and photojournalists are taking part in this event. During their stay, they will visit the tourist spots of Varanasi, Mirzapur, Chandauli and Sonbhadra districts. The government intends that the world should not only know about the natural beauty and historical heritage of these districts but also visit the state to experience the tourism potential of these places.
As per their itinerary, they will witness ‘Subah-e-Banaras’ (sun rise) at the Assi Ghat on Saturday morning followed by a visit to Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple and a weaver trail in the lanes of Varanasi. After that, they will go to Sarnath, where Buddha preached his first sermon. The Sarnath visit includes a tour to Dhamek Stupa, monasteries and archaeological museum. Later they will visit the Trade Facilitation Centre in Bada Lalpur area to see the textile museum and international handicraft fair.
On the third day, they will visit Chunar in Mirzapur district and Rajdari and Devdari waterfalls in Chandauli district on December 11 and will return to Varanasi for a visit to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple where they offer prayers and for Saptrishi Arti in the evening.
On the concluding day on December 12, they will take part in the conclave organised in the Cantonment area. The visiting guests will take part in a panel discussion on the topics of ‘Surprising Uttar Pradesh- Tourism Potential’ and ‘Uttar Pradesh Cradle of Craft & Culture’. The panel discussions will be followed by an experience sharing session. In an optional tour, the guests will be taken to Abadi village in Sonbhadra district. They will also visit the Salkhan Fossil park en-route.
