AYODHYA: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday launched the poster of four-day Ramayana Mela , to be organized in Ayodhya from November 27 to November 30.
The practice of organizing Ramayana Mela in Ayodhya every year was started 40 years back by the then Congress government of the state. The first Ramayana Mela was organized in 1982 which was inaugurated by then Congress CM Sripat Mishra.
Talking to TOI, general secretary of the Ramayana Mela Committee Vishambhar Nath Arora said: “The main aim behind the mela is to promote the original Awadhi Ramayana composed by Tulsidas between 16th and 17th century in Ayodhya.” A delegation of the Ramayana Mela Committee, headed by Arora, also called on the CM in Lucknow on Sunday.
The poster, which was released by the CM on Sunday, highlights acts from Ramayana through a fine display of Awadhi folk art. “Through the cover image of the poster we have tried to depict Awadhi folk art and culture,” Arora added.
