GORAKHPUR: The world is surprised by India’s rapid progress in every field of development, despite Covid-19 pandemic. “The new India provided houses to the poor and the number is more than the population of Australia,” said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during the closing ceremony of the 90th foundation day of Maharana Pratap Siksha Parishad (MPSP) in Gorakhpur on Saturday.
“Australia has a population of around 30 million and in India, houses for 30 million poor people and downtrodden people have been built in the past few years. During the pandemic, India provided free ration to 800 million people, which is more than the combined population of all the countries of America and European Union (EU).” the CM stated.
Yogi also presided over the prize distribution ceremony held on the occasion.
Welcoming the chief guest, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, the CM said that when the whole world was battered by the novel coronavirus, India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with strong willpower, made excellent management of the pandemic while ensuring the country’s development and public welfare.
“The PM showcased a unique example before the world by taking forward the plans and introducing a forward-looking National Education Policy (NEP). Today, India is the fastest growing economy in the world and has become the fifth largest economy of the world leaving behind Britain, which ruled the country for 200 years,” he pointed out.
Terming the leadership of G-20 as an unprecedented achievement for India, CM Yogi said the group comprises countries that represent 60 percent of the world’s population, 75% of trade, 85% of GDP and 95% of patents.
“The theme of the G-20 under the leadership of India is ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ ( One Family, One Earth and One Future). Our country has always given importance to this feeling. India has given shelter to every religion in times of crisis,” he said, adding that over 11 programmes of G-20 are scheduled to be held in four cities of UP for which preparations must start at the earliest.
Encouraging sportspersons, Yogi said there were immense possibilities in the field of sports in Gorakhpur.
