BAHRAICH: Incidents of theft of cash, jewellery and other valuable items are quite common, but have you ever heard of a thief decamping with toothpaste?
Unbelievable, but true! A man who had stolen 215 boxes of toothpaste worth Rs 11 lakh from a warehouse in Delhi’s Lahori Gate area a few days ago was arrested from his house in UP’s Bahraich district.
On November 22, a businessman, Kunwar Pal Singh, had informed the Lahori Gate police that 215 boxes filled with toothpaste have been stolen from his warehouse. He suspected that the theft has been committed by warehouse in charge Udai Kumar alias Santosh.
During investigation, the police found that the accused hails from Bahraich.
A team from Delhi police contacted Jarwal Road police station in Bahraich and, in a joint operation, raided the house of the accused in Khasepur village on November 25 evening and arrested him. Superintendent of police, Bahraich, Keshav Prasad Chaudhary, told TOI: “The accused has been arrested and all the stolen boxes have been recovered. The stolen items are worth around Rs 11 lakh. He has been taken to Delhi.”
