LUCKNOW: The state government has managed to reserve land for sports activities in 34,000 gram panchayats which will lend a decisive push to the ‘Khelo India‘ initiative of PM Modi in the days to come, said UP CM Yogi Adityanath during Khel Mahakumbh organised in Basti on Wednesday. Yogi said that in Basti work on construction of 30 playing grounds have been completed and another 45 would be done soon under MGNREGS and other schemes. The CM said that sports kits are also being distributed to the youth in every revenue village of the state.
We are reaching every section of the society and making them aware about the sporting activities,” he said. The CM said that the state government is also felicitating sportspersons who have done well in various competitions, including Olympics, paralympics, Commonwealth games and Asiad. “The state government plans to set up a stadium in at least every district and a mini stadium at the block level,” he said. He said that the Khel Mahakumbh will further boost the sporting activities at the grassroot levels. “Every section of the society is getting an opportunity to show their talent,” he said. Yogi said that not only sports but in other areas also India has been progressing for the past eight years. He said that getting the presidency of G-20 was another example of the rising stature of India.
