MEERUT: Meerut field unit of UP Special Task Force (STF) arrested one Laxman Bhool from Bareilly who worked as domestic help in Mumbai but was involved in a series of burglaries and robberies including one that took place at the house of Meerut-based businessman Pradeep Gupta’s on Tuesday. Gupta alleged that cash and valuables worth Rs 80 lakhs were looted from his house.
“Bhool is a resident of Doti district of Nepal. Investigation revealed that he was a part of a gang that posed as domestic helps but was involved thefts and robberies on the orders of kingpin Surender Kutwal who lives in Kailali district of Nepal. Kutwal was also a part of the theft that happened in Meerut on November 20. He had asked Laxman to reach Meerut and he even arranged for his flight ticket from Mumbai and gave him Rs 80k,” revealed UP STF additional SP Brijesh Singh.
“The two were accompanied by Lal Bhool, another Nepal citizen. Later, all three took away the vehicle along with other valuables of the businessman. While Kutwal and Lal Bhool left for Nepal, Laxman stayed back. He was on his way to Nepal to receive his share and had reached Bareilly when our team nabbed him,” Singh said.
“Local police has recovered Rs 20 lakh, stolen in meerut theft, from Kutwal in Nepal and now administrative procedures will be adopted to bring back the cash as well as the culprits. Efforts are on to trace the rest of the amount as well,” added Singh.
