LUCKNOW: UP will host about a dozen G-20 related events from February to August 2023 with the first one beginning in Agra and the last one taking place in Varanasi.
As per the current schedule, 11 programmes will be held in UP, six of which in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency. A government spokesperson said that the programmes will be spread over Agra, Lucknow, Varanasi and Greater Noida. While Varanasi will host six events, Agra will host three and Lucknow and Greater Noida one each.
“The first programme under the event will be held in Agra in February. This will be a meeting on empower inception for which the ministry of women and child development has been designated as the nodal ministry. The second and third meetings at this venue will take place in August which will be meetings of the culture working group. The ministry of culture will serve as the nodal ministry for these programmes.
In February, Lucknow will host a meet on digital economy working. Ministry of electronics and information technology has been appointed nodal ministry for this programme.
Six G20 events to be held in Varanasi in April, June and August
The business 20 summit will be organized in Greater Noida in August, for which CII has been made the nodal agency.
Meanwhile, Varanasi, where six events are scheduled to be held, will see activity in April, June and August. The first meeting here will be held in April which will be of the agriculture working group. In June, the youth 20 summit will be held in the city, for which the nodal agency is the ministry of youth affairs and sports.
August will be a busy month for the VIP constituency when four events will be organised, including a two-day meeting of a working group on development. The ministry of external affairs will serve as the nodal ministry. Discussions on joint development and foreign policy will also be held for which MEA will continue to serve as the nodal ministry. The last event will be a meeting of the sustainable finance working group, for which the ministry of finance will serve as the nodal agency.
