LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that the Uttar Pradesh government is looking at attracting an investment of Rs 10 lakh crore and creating employment for 1 crore youths of the state through the Global Investors Summit-2023 and the intellectuals should become a part of this important mission.
Addressing Prabuddha Jan Sammelan following the inauguration/stone laying of projects worth Rs 950 crore in Gorakhpur, he said as UP moves towards becoming number one economy of the country, Gorakhpur has the potential to emerge as a major educational and medical hub as well as a tourism centre of east UP.
The projects that were inaugurated, or foundation stone laid for them, include expanding the Deoria-Gorakhpur Bypass from two lanes to four-lanes, building a flyover on the bypass, setting up sewage treatment plant and increasing awareness of people about encephalitis.
A positive approach is the need of the hour. If we are able to make Uttar Pradesh the growth engine of the country, the day is not far away when we will not only provide jobs to our youths, but also those coming from outside the state. We are trying to create a situation, where no youth has to go to other states, or countries, to find employment,” he said.
Emphasising that Gorakhpur has undergone a transformation in the last five years in terms of health infrastructure, education, roads, sanitation and increasing investment, the CM said: “Fertiliser factory which was shut down in 1990 has been reopened.
The medical college has more facilities today than in the past. Gorakhpur has four universities, rare for a district to have.” “Gorakhpur also has AIIMS. Both road and air connectivity has improved immensely between Gorakhpur and different cities of the state, including Lucknow, Ayodhya, Azamgarh etc.
Encephalitis has almost been eradicated from eastern UP with the help of central government’s projects like Namami Gange and Swachhata Abhiyan as well as state government’s awareness campaigns. “Gorakhpur has the potential to become a tourist spot. It has Ramgarh Lake and a zoo.
Already regional filmmakers have started shooting their films here.” Thanking intellectuals for creating positive environment which led to good governance, CM said the situation in Gorakhpur was different 10 years ago. “The law and order had collapsed. Factories were shut. Roads were extremely poor. Electricity supply was irregular and people were scared of the place itself,” he said, adding that the condition was totally different now.
