LUCKNOW: A criminal carrying a bounty of Rs 25,000 on his head succumbed to injuries following an encounter with police in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Devendra alias Pinku, a resident of Farrukhabad.
Two police constables also sustained injures in the encounter, and were sent to community health centre in Kayamganj, and are currently out of danger.
Additional director general of police, Kanpur Zone, Bhanu Bhaskar, said that acting on a tip-off that a criminal is passing through the area on a motorcycle, a police team in Kayamganj police station in Farrukhabad district and SOG intercepted and instructed the bike-borne criminal to stop.
Bhaskar said that the accused opened fire at the police team.
“In retaliatory firing by the police, the criminal was hit by a bullet on his leg, and was taken to community health centre in Kayamganj. From there, he was referred to Ram Manohar Lohia in Farrukhabad, where doctors declared him as brought dead,” said Bhaskar.
