RAIPUR: Railway protection force (RPF) claimed to have caught an inter-state smuggler red-handed at the Raipur railway station on Friday and seized 10kg cannabis worth about one lakh from him.
The accused has been identified as Rameshwar Mishra, 19, who hails from Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj district.
The accused admitted that he was carrying the cannabis to Naini in Prayagraj district for sale and was waiting for the UP-bound train. The RPF handed over the accused to the government railway police (GRP) for further course of action.
The GRP booked the accused under Section 20B of the NDPS Act and produced him in the special NDPS court, Raipur.
The RPF personnel saw the youth sitting in the garden outside the railway station under suspicion. When the RPF questioned him and searched his bag, two packets of cannabis containing five kg each were found.
