DEHRADUN: Although the temperatures have dipped sharply in the past few days, the residents of Uttarakhand experienced the warmest December in the last five years, as per the regional meteorological centre.
In Dehradun, for instance, the average temperature recorded in December last year was 24 degrees Celsius, while it was 22 degrees Celsius in 2021, 23.5 in 2022, 21.2 in 2019 and 21 degrees Celsius in 2018.
According to Bikram Singh, director of the regional meteorological centre, “There was almost no rainfall in the month of December in Uttarakhand last year. As a result, the temperatures, in the absence of moisture, remained above normal across the state.”
The Met centre recorded a 100% rain deficit in November and December in Uttarakhand with all 13 districts recording ‘nil’ rainfall.
