BAREILLY: Seventeen policemen at Garhi police outpost in Bareilly have been shunted out to reserve police lines and three, including two sub-inspectors, have been suspended after a purported video of them distributing bribe money to each other went viral on social media.
In the video, sub-inspector (SI) Rajnish Tiwari can be heard talking to constable Uttam Kumar and SI Ravi Sharma about the bribe.
After the incident, SSP (Bareilly) Akhilesh Kumar Chaurasia had asked ASP Rahul Bhati to probe the matter. On the basis of the investigation report, chowki in-charge Rajnish was suspended, SI Ravi and constable Uttam were punished too, along with the rest.
The SSP told TOI on Saturday, “There is zero tolerance for corruption. A departmental enquiry has been ordered against all the accused policemen. We will take appropriate action after further investigation.”
