AGRA: A 25-year-old woman seriously injured her husband by stabbing him in the chest after the latter accused the former of illicit relations at Budhnamau village in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad district.
She was arrested by the police on Tuesday and sent to jail.
Police said that the accused, Rambeti Batham, alleged her husband Nitin Batham, 30, who worked as a labourer, had accused her of having an illicit relationship and in a fit of rage, she attacked him. Police rushed to the spot and shifted him to the district hospital where he is being treated. He is currently in critical condition.
An FIR was filed by the victim’s mother and the accused was arrested. The victim’s mother Tarawati said, “My son asked her to give him tea but she refused to give it and started an argument with him and suddenly picked the knife from the kitchen and attacked him”.
According to the Inspector (crime) posted at Budhnamau police station, Kamlesh Kumar, “A case under section 307 (Attempt to murder) has been registered, further investigation is on, and action will be taken accordingly. The accused was arrested and sent to jail after being produced in front of the magistrate. A neighbour said that the duo used to fight and accuse each other, but this time their fight turned ugly”.
